ExperienceI have degrees in biochemistry and biology. Before going to college, I attended high school in Washington State. Here, I focused on IB subjects. I've always loved science and have focused on learning as much about the subject as possible. While in college, I served as a tutor in the Academic Support office. I worked with students to help them better understand chemistry, biology, math, and writing courses. I also helped them better prepare for exams and helped them improve upon their study skills. I've also been a teaching assistant. In this role, I helped graduate students. While my studies have shifted to chemistry, I also enjoy helping students study biology courses. This includes physiology and genetics. I approach tutoring by helping individual students get through a problem at hand. I then ask them to show me how they get to the right answer. This helps to show that the concepts are sticking and that they truly understand what I'm teaching. I don't like to give my students the answers, as that doesn't help them improve as an individual. When I'm not teaching or studying, you can find me at the pool. I was a competitive swimmer in school. I also like to improve upon my writing skills.
